Tori + Herb | Holly, MI Wedding

Tori and Herb got married on by far the rainiest day in Michigan back in June.  Checking the radar earlier in the day, we knew a few rain showers would trickle their way in and out of where we were, but around 12 about an hour before the ceremony was supposed to kick off, the newest radar detected rain until 5pm. Not just sprinkles of rain, heavy downpour, soaked right into your underwear rain.

But the show had to go on, and while the original plan was for Tori and Herb to be married in front of the trellis her grandfather built for them with the pond in the backdrop the plans slightly had to change in order to keep them and their 300+ wedding guests dry. So they cut 3 feet off the trellis lumberjack style, had someone move it with a forklift to the reception tent (about 400ft over) , replanted the trellis into the ground (the previous legs had been cemented in) added a small tent connecting the trellis to the big reception tent, and by moving some of the tables and chairs were able to create an aisle way. Guests were then able to stay cozy and dry, and watch the ceremony from their tables.

The rest of their day was purely magical, and the rain finally led up around 5pm. just before 5pm in time for family portraits outside in front of a gorgeous wood pile (which also happens to be one of my favorite backdrops to take photos of to date.)
