It was such an honor to capture the wedding of Monica and Donnie this August. Monica is a sorority sister of mine whom I met almost 11 years ago. It’s crazy to think how much has changed since then, but it also puts into perspective how joining our sorority has changed my life for the better and how lucky I am that I can still find ways to connect with my sisters through photography.
But besides knowing Monica for years, her and Donnie were an absolute dream to work with. They trusted me every step of the way, and for that i’m thankful. They gave me room to be creative, make magic, and I truly mean it when I say leaving their wedding my heart was left full. It makes me so happy to see friends in love, that have found their person, and to be able to share in their day.
I like to ask my couples questions about their day after the fact – so here are their words on their day. <3
What did it feel like the first time you saw each other on your wedding day?
Monica: When I first saw Donnie all I could think was, I am the luckiest girl in the world. I was worried I would cry and be a mess, but I just couldn’t stop smiling. I was overjoyed with happiness that I was marrying the man of my dreams.
Donnie: Seeing Monica was better than I could have ever dreamed of. She looked so beautiful and perfect!
What was your most memorable moment that day?
Monica: I have so many moments that I will cherish forever. But probably the most memorable moment was our first dance. Even though we had 300 people in the room, I felt like we were the only people there. Staring into Donnie’s eyes and being twirled around the dance floor was absolutely perfect.
Donnie: Our first dance for sure. The song described us to a tee and it felt like we were the only people in the room while we were dancing.
Any advice to newly engaged couples?
Don’t become overwhelmed by the stress that can consume planning a wedding, especially in this day and age. Try and think of it as something you get to do as a couple and try to enjoy it. It all goes by so fast!
Did you Honeymoon? If so, where?
We went on a 3.5 week honeymoon to Europe. We started in Lisbon, Portugal, then went to Barcelona, Spain. From there we ventured to Florence, Italy (Tuscany was one of our favorites), then Rome, then The Amalfi Coast of Italy. After that we went to Greece (Santorini, Paros, and Mykonos islands) which was absolutely incredible, I would recommend Greece to anyone and everyone! Lastly, we finished in Iceland which was also phenomenal.
